I had a strange day last week, filled with good and bad, life and death.

Death-Bringing my car into the shop, no ride to work.

Life-Getting new shocks. Receiving a ride to work via friendly co-worker.

Life-Free Coffee Friday at Cumberland Farms

Death-While preparing my coffee a 70 year-old man asks “How are you?” “Not too bad, yourself?” I reply. He goes on to tell me that he’s not doing well, his wife passed away that morning from cancer. His stepson died of cancer at age 49 and his step-daughter has cancer. He wasn’t crazy, he just clearly needed someone to talk to. I listened for a bit and asked him to spend the day with his family and mourn.

Life-Great day at work. Got to download music and edit audio.

Death- An email telling me that my laptop, which was brought in to a repair shop earlier, is now dead. The keyboard is gone, the touchpad is gone and no information can be recovered from the hard drive.

Life- Leave work early.

Death- Have to walk a few miles to the auto shop. Not a terrible walk, just very cold outside.

Life- Running into a friend who was looking for me, also happened to be driving to the same auto shop.

Life- Car fixed.

Life wins 6-4.

This has been my jam all week. A little bit of a downer but, that’s where I am right now. The chorus kills me:

Greatest fears/Before I hit 25.

When I was in Ireland last month I saw the Cliffs of Moher (PROOF.) It’s different over there because there’s not a ton of guardrails to keep you from falling, just a few caution signs. At one point in my walk I took a step into some mud and slipped. My right foot came out from underneath me and my iPhone flew out of my hand into the mud. That was a scary moment where I could’ve fallen 700 feet into the choppy Atlantic ocean. But that was not the most fearful moment in my life.

One time I was robbed at baseball-bat/knife point. Also not my most fearful moment. My greatest fears are not things that happen but things that may not happen. The great poet George Watsky says:

“I’m talking like waves of fear, like you’re lying in bed at night and you hold the blankets up to your neck and the covers are like a tsunami of fear. And you start hyperventilating. Thinking about how you’re getting older way faster than your dreams are getting accomplished. About how skinny your arms are, about how fat your tummy is.”

I’m getting way older than my dreams are getting accomplished. I want to change that. Here’s a list of things I want to do before I hit 25 years old. I’ll throw in some things I have done as well, just for funsies.

Record a 4-5 song EP of original songs and release it for free.
Write, shoot and edit a short film.
~~Meet David Hasselhoff.~~
Start preforming aforementioned songs at trashy open mic bars.
Speak at a conference.
~~See the Cliffs of Moher and slip in some mud.~~
Record a monthly podcast.
Embarrass myself on the Internet.
Record a weekly radio show on a low power, community station.
~~Get married.~~
~~Embarrass myself on the Internet.~~
~~Officiate a wedding.~~
Volunteer for a worthy cause.
Preform covers of my favorite songs for YouTube.
